Tips and questions
Tips
- Add the arrival time and place, like the airport or base, so family get a map link and can add it to their calendars.
- Keep it to what you’d share publicly. Anyone with the link can read it, so leave out details like unit movements or flight numbers you’d rather keep private.
- Make it big on the day: open it full screen on a TV for the last hour.
- Count the time apart, too. Once someone has left, a countdown with their departure date counts up from it.
Common questions
Which time zone should I use for the arrival?
Your own. Pick the arrival time as it will be where you are, and everyone who opens the link sees that moment in their own time zone, wherever they're stationed or traveling.
What if the date changes?
A countdown lives entirely in its link, so it can't be edited. Make a new one with the new date and share that link.
Can the kids follow it too?
Yes. Add it to a tablet's or phone's home screen and it opens like an app, or open it full screen on a TV.
